"Heinz Mum's Own Recipe" gets a taste and texture transformation plus more delicious recipes

Mum's Own Recipe has long been a favourite with mums and babies alike. Inspired by mums, this unique baby food brings to life tried and tested homemade recipes which babies adore across the UK.

Yet babies are tough food critics when it comes to new sensations, flavours and textures. So Heinz has gone back to the kitchen working closely with Mums, who know baby best, to cook up a new and improved Mum's Own Recipe savoury range featuring even tastier recipes with the best texture at every stage of weaning for babies.

Along with a team of mums, Heinz chefs have made the Mum's Own Recipe savoury range taste and texture-tastic. Research was completed with the help of psychologists and nutritionists, findings show that taste and texture is vital to baby's development and baby food should be tailored according to age and developmental stage.

The new and improved range has recipes that are tastier than ever, textures that are ideal for each stage of baby's development and 14 new delicious varieties. Available from February 2009 at major retailers, mealtimes are set to be better than ever!

Heinz Mums Own Recipes

Best texture at each stage of baby's development:

  • Smooth, for babies 4 – 6 months: Your baby is entering the new world of solid food so a really smooth blend helps to make swallowing far simpler for your baby.
  • Mashed, for babies 7 months+: It's time to get your little one starting to investigate lots of new stimulating tastes and textures that are easy to manage, yet start to encourage chewing to help your little one develop.
  • Tender pieces, for 10 months+: Now your little one is starting to chew, it's time to introduce more texture and exciting recipes. This helps to ensure they are not fussy eaters later in life.

As small, soft pasta pieces encourage little ones to cope with slightly more texture from 7 months Heinz has launched five delicious new Mum’s Own Recipe pasta meals, inspired by mums Ann, Rachel, Emma, Tina and Michelle. They are: Cheesy Tomato Pasta Stars, Cheesy Pasta with Ham, Sweet Potato & Red Pepper Pasta Stars, Pasta and Pesto Chicken and Cheesy Vegetables with Spaghetti. Our mums tell us: Ann, Heinz Recipe Mum

"Cheesy Tomato pasta Stars is Chris' favourite meal. With lots of big smiles and hardly any leftovers it makes meal times enjoyable for him and easier for me."

Rachel, Heinz Recipe Mum

"Cheesy pasta with ham was a great next step in Lucy's diet, I knew she was ready for pasta when she happily had some from her older brother Leon's meal".

As well as introducing new recipes, Heinz has extended some of their classic recipes across 4-6+, 7+ and 10 months+. Now mums can get recipes that their babies already love at every stage of their development, including: Cottage Pie; Sunday Chicken Dinner; Vegetable Bake. (Spaghetti Bolognese also available from 4-12 months+).

All Heinz Mum's Own savoury products contain a source of iron to aid baby's natural defences, as their natural sources of iron are depleted by six months of age. In addition there are no added preservatives, no artificial flavours or colours and no GM ingredients – just as you'd expect.

Even tastier than before and with best texture for baby the new Mum's Own Recipe range includes an array of delicious meat, fish, pasta and vegetarian recipes, each made with specially selected ingredients to give baby a great start in life.
