Depression in pregnancy may lead to pre-term births

Findings from a study at Kaiser Permanente's Division of Research in Oakland, California have revealed there could be a strong link between depression early in pregnancy and pre-term births. The research shows that mild depression could increase the risks of premature birth could be increased by up to 60% if undiagnosed.

Dr De-Kun Li, lead author of the study explained in an interview that "Depression during pregnancy is a serious medical condition which may jeopardize the health of the woman and her baby. It is considerably “under-recognised and under-diagnosed - clinicians should pay close attention to catch it early."

I dont know what to say about this but when I was pregnant, I have some bad days which I was thinking maybe it is not a good idea me getting pregnant at this time. I couldn't go to work because I was sick with fibroid and there was no money coming in. Evenually my baby came at 26weeks which is 14weeks early maybe it has something to do with me being down and thinking too much I dont know. The hospital couldn't give me a proper reason to why the baby came early.
So I dont know whether the research is right or not.
