Mum Friendly Careers With The Body Shop At Home

Work from home, the hours you want and be your own boss for less than £100

Like many new mums considering returning to work after maternity leave I found it a heart wrenching decision, torn between wanting to be a full time mum and the career I’d spent years building, says Lynne, 32, from Warrington and mum of now 18 month Isobel.

I went back to my job as an HR training manager only to be made redundant a few months later. A blessing in disguise, as I desperately wanted to find a job that could fit in around me being a stay-at-home mum. It was just pure luck I was introduced to The Body Shop At Home - a fun and informal way to sell The Body Shop products by organising parties at customer’s homes.

I had been in the process of setting up my own stationary business, but with The Body Shop At Home the risk factor was extremely low. The start up fee is minimal and costs less than £100 for the starter kit, which contains over £500 worth of product. You also receive free training including how to give a facial, how to apply makeup, as well as how to get party bookings and make the most of your business. All The Body Shop at Home consultants are self-employed and earn an income by selling The Body Shop products in people’s homes or offices in the form of a party.

Within three weeks from my initial enquiry I was ready for my first party. To begin with I did anything between 2 to 4 parties per week. My friends and family booked a party and they introduced me to their friends who also had a party for me. This was the way I grew my business and before I knew it I had a full diary for weeks in advance. I never have to ‘hard-sell’ as the products are fantastic and many party-goers are already familiar with our ranges because they buy from our stores.

The host of the party can choose a theme such as makeovers or a pamper evening and then depending what she and her friends buy will receive free products and additional half price shopping as our way of saying thank-you. They also receive a free makeover or facial. It’s a fun girls night out - friends, a glass of wine and shopping rolled into one in the comfort of your own home.

I really enjoy the financial freedom The Body Shop At Home gives me. The earning opportunity is endless as you decide your own salary by how many parties you do. If you just want to do a couple of parties a week you can, or like me build a sales team and become a manager, which I did in six months! There are some consultants who build their business to have a large sales team and earn more than £50k - the highest paid consultant who is a mum of three earns in the region of £100k!

The Body Shop At Home has given me the perfect work life balance. The flexibility of being my own boss and working from home ensures I don’t miss out spending time with Isobel and then I work in the evening (if I want to) when she’s asleep. It’s a social job which never really feels like work. The job is never boring, you never get stuck in an office and it’s a wonderful way to meet new people.

It’s an amazing opportunity to set up your own business for less than £100.

I would definitely recommend becoming a consultant with The Body Shop At Home my sister-in-law has just become one in fact to help pay for her holiday! You don’t need previous sales or beauty experience, the job gives flexibility around your lifestyle be it children or another job, it’s a great way to meet new people especially if you’re new to an area and most of all it’s fun!
