Breastfeeding Clothes
|
Having made the decision to breastfeed, you will find another issue will arise, what to wear! I remember when I fed James, that I suddenly had to think about the tops I was wearing and whether they would enable me to be discreet when out and about. I remember once making the mistake of putting on fairly tight t-shirt, finding myself in a shopping arcade, (my favourite place by the way!) and James needing to be fed. I tried very hard to carefully release myself so that he could latch on and I found it very difficult without giving everyone a very good show. I ended up using a muslim cloth draped across my chest, not a pretty sight. It is a difficult enough time breastfeeding in public places, as well as with friends and family and it can be a little uncomfortable, but there are some companies that have your interests at heart and have tried to create stylish and practible clothing to make what is sometimes a stressful time, a bit easier. Note: The Department of Health recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months. If you or a friend would like help in coping with any breastfeeding difficulties, please see your midwife or health visitor, or refer to our Support Links. |
