Breast Screening
So Many Invites, So Little TimeWeddings, Christmas, birthdays, christenings... we all like receiving invitations. And, there's one invitation you shouldn't turn down if you are between 50 and 70 years of age. Your NHS breast screening InvitationTwenty years ago this autumn the government's Forrest Report argued for the introduction of breast screening - and the idea of the NHS Breast Screening Programme was born. Since its introduction in 1988, the NHS Breast Screening Programme has detected over 80,000 cancers. Latest research shows that the programme saves 1,400 lives every year in England. Unfortunately thogugh, a large number of women between the ages of 50 and 70 in the UK are not attending their breast screening appointments. That's why this Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Breakthrough is encouraging all women aged 50 - 70 to attend their screening appointments. And, if you are aged 70 or over, to phone or write to your local breast screening unit to make an appointment.
