Child Activities

Children love playing outside whether that is in their own garden, down the park with friends, woods and forests and visiting castles, theme parks or summer fun days.

When the weather is fine you cannot beat being out and about with your children. There is always so much happening in the spring and summer that sometimes it can be hard to decide where you want to go and if, like me, you probably find they all happen on the same day.

As well as going out just being in the garden can be fun too if you have space to provide your children with garden toys, such as trampolines, climbing frames and seasaws, to name but a few. Sandpits are brilliant for eager adventurers and you will find children play happily in them for hours. Garden furniture for your little ones also is great to eat "al fresco". They look very cute and love being able to have real picnics or pretend tea parties.

We have put together some pages on outdoor ideas for you to share. If you have visited a place or have any ideas that others might like to share on playing outside drop us a line at debbie@forparentsbyparents.com and we can add them to the site.

We have 2 competitions this month worth about £160, including Galloping Minds for your todder or pre-schooler. Why not try your luck?

HELP!!!

Our 14 month old son has, for the last 3 weeks, woke during the night crying. Since then we are only getting about 2 hours sleep a night and we are absolutely exhausted.(his cot is our room and previous to this he was a great sleeper.) The only thing that settles him is letting him sleep with us . I know this can be dangerous and we dont actually get any sleep as we are so scared that we will suffocate him. On a health vistors advice, we tried controlled crying which was very difficult and upsetting for us all. Even after 3-4 hours of crying he still wouldnt settle and it would wake our other 2 older children. Having spoken to a different H.V since, they have suggested that we wont solve the matter unless our son is sleeping in another room away from us. we only have a 3 bedroom house so he will have to share a room with his 12 year old brother. Does anyone have any views if this may work?
