I'm now 8 weeks pregnant with my forth child. I've now been bleeding for over 1 week and getting worried. I've had a scan that showed I was 5 weeks I don't think its right I have no pain but they said everything looks fine. This is the only pregnancy I've had bleeding in I now have a follow up scan in 10 days to see if my baby is developing.- Samantha

I was 3 days late & 2 pregnancy tests confirmed I'm pregnant. I will be 5 weeks on Sunday but on Wednesday evening started with pale bleeding, not much & light cramps. We went to A&E & another pregnancy test was done which confirmed I was pregnant. All the tests were very faint but I was told this is due to me being in the very early stages of pregnancy. Yesterday morning another pregnancy test showed a faint positive but the bleeding had progressed to that of a period and during the night I had to change twice. I've also lost some clots & tissue. Yesterday my doctor told me that even though I had 5 tests all showing positive, there are other hormones in urine that could trigger such a result! I can't accept that - 5 positives! Surely he can't be right, that would mean ladies thinking they were pregnant, carrying out a test would hold onto the belief they were expecting. He said to take a urine sample in next week to be tested again. I now really have no idea whether I'm pregnant or in deed ever was! We've been trying for 2 years & this was our first real sign that maybe something happened. I feel in total limbo but enlightened & maybe a little more hopeful, by finding this web page. Good luck to you all.

I am 6 weeks and the last couple of days I have been spotting. I read my pregnancy book and it says that spotting basically can be a sign for anything from ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, normal pregnancy, and the embryo burrowing in the uterus. So I was not satisfied with the numerous possibilities. After finding this site I feel assured that everything is probably fine and it is just a hormonal thing.- Lorel

I am 6 weeks pregnant, my third pregnancy, I had implantation bleeding for the first time, around about my due date of my period, it then stopped and I took two tests and all positive. Then this morning I wiped myself and a a very light brown mucous blob appeared. My back is sore and I am terrified that the baby has decided to go.... it has happened in the past, but I neven new the baby had died until my first ultra sound. Help? Does anyhone have any suggestions? I am going for my first check on Monday next week anyway, should I wait until then? - Samantha

I am currently 18 weeks and since 15 weeks I have had heavy bleeding, I am so scared as I had 2 miscarriages last year, one at 23 weeks and one at 12 weeks, everytime I go to the toilet I think the worst and that I am going to lose this one as well. I have been to hospital and I have had scans done all showing baby is doing well getting bigger and moving around alot, I'm trying so hard to stay positive but with lack of sleep, stress and worries that I'm going to miscarry again, being positive is so hard. No-one can give me any answers as to why its happening or even if I will carry full term, it feels like a waiting game and not a pleasent experiance, I'm scared to bond with my baby incase I lose it. It seems to be a common thing except they still can't answer why it happens!!- Carly

I have been spotting on and off since about 9 weeks. Now I'm about 19 weeks and its still going on. Never a lot of blood, often after a bowel movement, all different colors - pink, maroon, red, brown. I was told the sonographer found a little hemotoma - a very small one in the subchorion. Its like a small bruise or pocket of blood. I was told not to do any high impact excersizing and no sex until I hadn't blead for 1 week. I was also told this almost always resolves itaself by 20 weeks. So I'm annoyed that it is still going on and doesn't seem to be slowing. I am wondering if this means I'll deliver early, also wondering what the risks of loosing this baby are considering...

Hi all- I am so worried...I am almost 6 wks preg with triplets but when the 1st ultrasound was done they saw one sac w/abnormalities and the other two seemed to be ok. It was too soon for a heartbeat. A few days ago, I saw red blood then lasted on and off for 2 days turning to brown & pink and then it stopped for two days. Now I woke up this morning and I'm bleeding again, passed a clot and nervous as hell. Any explanations?

I did two home pregnancy tests they both said positive... Than I went to the doctor and they did a pregnancy test and it said positive, so now today I started cramping like it is my period, and I am spotting a little bit.. I'm very concerned I am 5 weeks pregnant can anyone tell me if this is suppose to happen..- Jamie

Early september 2004 I found out I was pregnant it was a nice surprise and I fealt fantastic.... My breasts were sore but I had no morning sickness. 1 month later on the 17th of October 2004 I started spotting it was a very light shade of pink and only when I wiped.... we phoned the hospital but they told me to rest and if it got worse come in. The next day after staying in bed since the morning before I felt really dizzy and sore , I made it to the toilet in time to sit down when I passed a clot the size of a small plate, I then had a sick dizzy feeling and fainted. I was taken to the hospital with a lot of blood loss and they ended up sending me home and told me to come back in 5 days if the bleeding hadn't stopped. I went back but the ultrasound showed up nothing I was totally clear.

Its now been over a year (Nov 2005) later and 3 weeks ago I was excited to find out I was pregnant we had been trying again for a baby all year and it finally happened. But on the 22nd I again went to the toilet and found some pink on the toilet paper.... I went to the hospital they did my HCG lvls and it was at 785 I then went back on Thursday the 24th and my HCG lvls are now at 1120, after seeing the doctor I went to the toilet and found bright red blood...... I went straight back to emergency and have to again have my HCG lvls checked to see if they have gone up on Saturday. Its now Friday and though I have had a little pink when I wipe and some cramps I feel fine so I am hoping.- Lisa

I am five weeks pregnant and over the last few days have noticed a light brown pinky coloured discharge which has me worried sick. I am terrified that I am having a miscarriage but know it's just a case of waiting and seeing what happens. I feel slightly reassured that this is something many pregnant women experience and go onto have healthy babies.

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and less than a week ago I started spotting. It now has turned into light bleeding which has me worried. But I still have no cramps and have not passed anything. I was glad to read that other women are going crazy like me and constantly checking themselves. Thanks for the messages hopefully they will ease my mind over the holiday! - Mona

Oh my GOd, it is so wonderful to find this website!! I'm about 6 weeks pregnant and about 5 days ago, I started to bleed almost like a period, but was not as heavy. for the few days afterward, I spotted but it was just brown blood. Yesterday I went to get a transvaginal ultrasound done and they found a heart beat and said everything was fine. However, last night I bled red blood with a few clots in it but has since stopped. It's nice to know many women out there have gone through the same thing and it doesn't necessarily mean it is bad!!

Hi, I am only four weeks pregnant and slightly bleeding. I have got to go back to the hospital tomorrow to cheak my hcg levels. This is so scary. - Joanna

I am 9.5 weeks I had very, very light, pink spotting yesterday that lasted about 1 hour. It seems to have subsided and there is no pain but I am terribly scared. Had an ultra sound 3 days ago (had miscarried once so docor ok'd it) and baby was ok, strong heart beat and right size. Then yesterday spotting. What does it mean when it's so brief???

I recently went for an 8 week scan to confirm whether I was carrying twins and was told that my baby is the size of a 6 week old and there was also no heartbeat, I am going for another scan tomorrow to see if the baby has grown, over the last week I have experienced some spotting on the Friday then heavy bleeding on the Sunday which lasted for about 1 hour. No cramping but I am fearing the worse. The other worse part about this is the fact that even though my pregnancy could have stopped I am still feeling the symptoms of pregnancy. Its so confusing as you still feel pregnant but fear the worse, this is my first baby which took 2 years to conceive. I will update you tomorrow after my visit (fingers crossed)

I miscarried in March and am now 17 weeks pregnant. I noticed bleeding tonight after a bowel movement. My doctor told me to monitor for an hour or so - it appears that the bleeding has stopped though I plan to call my doctor again in the morning. Has this happened to anyone else? - Nancy

Well, I hope to report good news soon. I had a molar preg-bleeding. Went on to a 'real' mc at 6 weeks. I am bleeding again and got ultra sound showing twins! Nothing I can do about the bleeding they say...no working out or sex. I am HOPING for a miracle! and one for all of us!

I am 5+ weeks pregnant and found out that I have a split uterus and had spotting and then heavier bleeding the last 2 days. I have no idea if I had a miscarriage or am still pregnant. It's very confusing.

I'm 7 weeks pregnant, since 5 weeks onwards I have had spotting and bleeding, not too much, only a little on the pad and every time I wipe. I'm very scared, please can anyone tell me if my baby is okay? I have all pregnancy symptoms, I think thats good news, I went hospital twice because of the bleeding, all is good, they saw a heart beat, but I'm very worried about the bleeding, they found blood around the womb.

I am currently 8 weeks in to my 4th pregnancy, I have been losing brown blood for the past 4 weeks now and although I have had ultra sound scans on 3 occasions and all is well, I'm not convinced. the midwifes at the unit where I attend do not have the answers to my questions all they can seem to say is if its meant to be then its meant to be, I'm really worried but reading this website today has helped. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens. Good luck to you all.

I am running late by 10 days. I went to the doctor today and did a urine test. It turned out negative. So I went to get a blood test. Will found out tomorrow if it's positive or not. I started getting some brown spotting yesterday and today it had a tinge of red. I also scooped out a blood clot. Are these symptoms normal? And if I find out tomorrow that I am pregnant via the blood test, why didn't the urine test show that I'm pregnant. Afterall, wouldn't it mean something abnormal for a urine test not to show positive at 6 weeks pregnant? I AM SO CONFUSED. I also feel lethargic and dizzy. My doctor examined me via her hands and this wasn't painful. I shall go back to her tomorrow to find out blood results. 10 years ago I had an ectopic pregnancy but recently my partner and I underwent extensive specialist reproductive tests. They showed that we are perfectly normal and that there are no reasons why I can't conceive. If you can provide any responsible feedback, please do so now as I can't sleep. - Jacqui

I am around 7 weeks pregnant. I spotted at the very beginning for a day or so but then it went away. Then today I started to spot, just on the toilet paper after a bm. I had an ultrasound last week that showed the heartbeat. I know this is very common but I am still very nervous. I am not supposed to go to the doctor until the 28th. Any advice? - Hannah

I started spotting on the the 6th of November after having two positive pregnancy tests. On Thursday it had become light bleeing. That night and Friday morning, I passed tissue or clot. We went to ER and the doctor said that the cervix was closed. I continue to bleed. We went so that I could have an untrasound this morning. They did both external and vaginal ultrasound. At least it is not a egg stuck in the fallopian tubes. We get results on Tuesday. It seems like a life time away.

I am currently 9 week pregnant...this is my first pregnancy. I have been spotting every morning around the same time,8am. The spotting started when I was 6 weeks pregnant. I did have an ultrasound done at 7 weeks to make sure the pregnancy was going OK and they found a heart beat. I go in for blood work in 3 weeks...and have been so terified something is going wrong with the pregnancy, since no one I know has experienced this, I fell alone in the experience with no one but my doctor to tell me not to worry, but what if I am that small percentage that should?

I'm 6+5 days pregnant and had a small bleed 4 days ago fresh blood. I went for a scan the heart beat was seen. I bled old blood for the next 4 days no cramping or pain and now have had another small bleed. - Hazel

I am now just over 14 weeks pregnant. I had a very heavy bleed when I was 11 weeks pregnant and was rushed to hospital. I did not have any pain, but thought I had miscarried as the blood was so heavy. After waiting hours at the hospital they were not able to do a ultrasound as it was the weekend! Can you believe it. So I was told to go home and wait until Tues, as Monday was a public holiday. Can't explain how difficult those 2 nights were not knowing if the baby was alive. Went for scan on Tues and baby is fine, thank god. I am now 16 weeks pregnant and got very light spotting the other day, ran to the doctor in a panic, was told to calm down, easier said than done right! Doctor checked with the doppler and the heart beat was heard. Was told to rest. I then again went to the doctor the day after as I could not stop going to the toilet and had abit of pain. Again was checked with the doppler and baby was fine, apparently is sitting on my bladder which is why I am always going to the toilet and have a bit of pain, almost like the pain when you get a urine infection. Anyway so the spotting is still here but very little....so I am trying to take it easy. I too have been told there is no explanation and that it is normal. I didn't think being pregnant could be so stressful! - Kathy

I recently have had 2 miscarriages, both between 5-7weeks. The first time I miscarried i had pain for about 10minutes then bleeding, the bleeding lasted all day before I passed the 'sac' and continued for another 3 days or so and was definately a miscarriage.

The second time, I had no pain but bled in very small amounts, like spotting for almost a day or two before the sac was passed, I passed two and then a third one so I had triplets this time.

I am pregnant now - about 7 1/2 weeks - and went for a scan on thu (its sat today). I was told there is no heartbeat and that I will probably miscarry. I bled yesterday, about 2 drops of blood, but no more. I had terrible pain last night but have had no more bleeding. Anyone got any ideas? - Rachel

I am so glad I read this site. I have been looking everywhere for some reassurance. I had a miscarriage last year. After having some spotting and minor cramping I went for an ultrasound at 7 weeks. There was no fetal heartbeat. They sent me back for a follow-up ten days later - still no heartbeat. I had a missed abortion as they call it.

Just wanted to say I'm so blessed I found this webpage to help ease my fears about spotting. I'm having spotting (all 3 colors, pink, brown, and red) and I think I'm approximately 4-6 weeks along (just found out couple of days ago!). My family, friends, and nurse have attempted to reassure me that all is well, it's normal! But I was finding myself going to the bathroom 30 times a day to check for the spotting, and wiping myself raw! I can now see that there really are others who are experiencing this! My nurse told me to just relax and wait for my appointment in 2 weeks! Poor woman I think I was starting to drive her crazy! She said unless I'm soaking pads and doubled over in pain, don't worry! Hope everyone has a happy and healthy pregnancy!

I am 8 weeks into my pregnancy and last week I noticed some vaginal bleeding, it was dark blood like you get at the end of a period. I got it checked out and all seems to be ok, I am still getting a brownish colour discharge a week on and am worried sick not knowing what this really means. The doctor has tried to reassure me that this can be quite common during pregnancy, but I feel I can't relax and enjoy the pregnancy because of whats happening.

I had two miscarriages at about 12 weeks, both accompanied by bleeding/spotting in various quantities. I then went on to have a perfectly normal pregnancy. I am now about 17 weeks pregnant and bleeding has started again, so far I have spoken to the GP but they do not seem overly concerned at this stage but I am just terrified its another miscarriage. I know miscarriages are really common but as no one talks about this subject much, it doesn't ease my worries. I will update you as and when I can.

Just to update you. I have had a scan today and my fears have been realised. It appears baby stopped growing at about 8 weeks, i would now have been 16 weeks pregnant, and have been bleeding for nearly two weeks. I couldn't help but feel I knew the outcome, even though I had read many positive things about pregnancy and bleeding, my previous miscarriages have made me so worried. I now have to have a d&c next week which is the earliest. I am just thankful for the beautiful children I already have, this obviously was not meant to be this time...

I had light bleeding/spotting around 7 weeks and went to the doc. They did a vaginal ultrasound and baby was fine- strong heart beat showed up. Now I am about 14 and a half weeks pregnant and experienced some light spotting again. Last time, the doc wouldn't have had me come in since I wasn't in pain, and was not having cramps, but since this is my first pregnancy they worked me in and did the vaginal ultrasound. Both times I had spotting was around the time I had a yeast infection (sorry if too much info! but I wondered if there could be some correlation there, between the infection and the spotting. Anyone else have a similar issue?

"I am just over 6 weeks pregnant and 2 days ago had mucus with a bit of blood in it, I panicked and lay in bed for the rest of the day. The next day I had a tiny amount of very light blood and then it went away again, I went to the doctor for a blood test yesterday to check my hcg levels and am waiting to hear back today. Does this sound similar to anyone? The first blood test I had about 2 weeks ago showed very high levels of hcg over 4000 . I am a twin and there are a lot of other twins in my family, does this high hcg maybe mean twins? My nurse said there is a possibility that I may have had twins and lost one.

"I did a pregnancy test last week being 2 weeks late it was possotive I have been to the hospital today and had a vaginal scan there was no birth sac present I have been having spotting of dark blood I am getting no pains I have had a blood test today and go back monday is this normal or could I only be 3 weeks pregnant and it wouldnt show what is the earliest day you can see the sac on a vaginal scan?"

"I began bleeding with blood clots during my 6th week of pregnancy. During my 7th and 8th week of pregnancy I was still bleeding but with no blood clothes. The bleeding has lessened greatly. I wanted to share this description because there is no articles on how much bleeding is to much or to little to worry about. On the other hand, my doctor reassured me that 1 out of every 5 women bleed throughout their pregnancy. Although, I was relieved to hear this, is still didn’t stop me from constantly thinking something might be wrong. There is a strong heartbeat and the baby is growing fine.
So I guess all we can do is take it easy and hope for the best. Good luck to all!"

"I am at present 15 weeks pregnant with my fourth pregnancy, although I only have two children. My pregnancy was not planned and was due to undergo removal of one ovary due to endometriosis, then I found out I was pregnant an almighty shock! as my children are both at school and I have my life back, what a dilema I thought, once I got used to the idea I have been looking forward, then when I turned 14 weeks out the blue I had a bleed, was scanned and told baby was alright, just take it easy! Once my bleeding subsided and told all my tests where clear I went home to relax, exactly one week on (now 15 weeks) from my ordeal I have bled again and am terrified, I have been scanned again and told baby okay. I haven't seen my consultant yet, my doctor is monitoring me, and when I bleed I have to go to hospital A&E, who don't seem to care. I am so worried and take each day as it comes. There is no explanation as to why, just some women experience this!"

"I am 16 weeks pregnant and have started bleeding, no cramps. Light bleeding and spotting mostly. I had a scan and apparently baby is well. I am terrified as the bleeding hasn't stopped, now day 4. This is my 5th pregnancy. Has anyone else ever had this at such a late stage?"

"After losing one baby (miscarriage at 9 weeks) I was completely terrified when during my next pregnancy I started bleeding at 5 weeks and continued for the next 7 weeks. But I got regular scans which helped to show that the baby was developing normally and went on to have a very healthy pregnancy. So it's important to know that bleeding does not always mean bad news."

"I had a lot of concerns about miscarriage as I had bleeding throughout the first 3 months every week or so. I was feeling happy about being pregnant but worried all the time and not feeling like I could talk about it etc for fear of it not lasting."

"In both my pregnancies I experienced spotting right from the time I found out I was pregnant at around 6 weeks to about 14 weeks. It was a though my body was really confused, expecting/trying to have a period but the pregnancy hormones stopping most of it.

I was constantly worried that I was going to have a miscarriage and would dread having to go to the toilet for fear of what I'd find. There was nothing reassuring about spotting in the pregnancy books but talking to my Doctor I did find out that it's quite common and is experienced by lots of women!"

"I had unexplained bleeding for several weeks that started at about 8 weeks (thought it was a miscarrage!) and continued on & off for 3 months. I was scanned several times to check that the baby was O.K (luckily she was) but there was no further explanation from hospital about what could be causing it. Looking at web sites I could see that other women had gone through it to and had healthly babies at the end of it."

"I had been bleeding and no one could say why or what to do other than rest. When I asked what he or she meant by rest they would say use your judgment. I found this very difficult as I'm used to a Doctor giving me advice in areas of health as they are qualified and I trust their judgement."
