Support links

It is generally acknowledged that breastfeeding is best for baby however as we are not health professionals, we do not feel that it is appropriate for us to provide breastfeeding advice on the site.

Instead we will use this page to provide links to organisations and web sites that offer parents breastfeeding information, helplines and access to breastfeeding counsellors. There is also details of a recommended book.

If you know of a good breastfeeding support site please forward the details to: contributions@forparentsbyparents.co.uk.

What to Expect When You're Breast-feeding
…. And What if You Can't?

Clare Byam-Cook

Publisher - Vermilion (Random House)

From the reviews I've read of this book you'll either love it or hate!

If you've not experienced problems breastfeeding then it's probably not for you.

If like me, it didn't feel so natural, if you've hit problems or if you j
Clare is the first 'expert' that I've ever come across that's actually happy to admit that 'breastfeeding for some mothers is just not possible'!

I feel that Clare has a very balanced approach. She manages to promote breastfeeding whilst also taking away the guilt and feelings of inadequancy from mums who find breastfeeding not quite as 'natural' as they've been led to believe!

I wish I had read it when I was a new mum! It might have saved me many days of worry, torment and guilt!

In May 2004 Clare's practical advice will also be available on a new DVD

'Breastfeeding Without Tears'

You can purchase the DVD by mail order through 01483 726969 or online at www.amazon.co.uk
