Released on 3rd April 2006, Wilson Pickett was one of the most important artists on Atlantic Records from the mid-'60s into the early '70s. Born in Alabama in 1941, he moved to Detroit in 1955, where he first made his name as a gospel singer before moving into soul music with the influential group The Falcons. Pickett enjoyed a couple of hits in the early '60s before being signed by Atlantic partner and producer Jerry Wexler in 1965. Recording primarily at studios in Memphis, Tennessee and Muscle Shoals, Alabama, he created a string of major hits for the label--including such groundbreaking classics as "In The Midnight Hour," "634-5789," "Mustang Sally," "Land Of 1000 Dances," "Funky Broadway," and many more. Pickett was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and paid homage to in the Alan Parker film of Roddy Doyle’s novel The Commitments. His music is an indispensable part of the Soul legacy. He sadly passed away on 19th January 2006.

The judge's decision is final.

We reserve the right to display the names of prize winners on the site. No other personal identifiers will be used. Anyone who does not want their name to be displayed should email the site once they have registered or submitted an entry request.

Prizes will be held for 2 weeks from the notification date above. If a prize is not claimed within this time it will be forfeit and a draw will be made to select a winner.
