The Numberjacks DVD has been hotly anticipated since the programme first aired on CBeebies in October 2006. Within three weeks the show became the number one rated show on CBeebies, and the DVD release marks the popular pre-school brand’s first step into the merchandising market. Numberjacks is a pioneering new animated comedy adventure programme which brings numbers to life in an entirely innovative way – introducing them as superheroes! Open Mind Productions is renowned for making education come alive for children through highly engaging and imaginative programmes. Numberjacks is the brainchild of Chris Ellis – Open Mind’s creative director – who developed the concept to help bring adventure back to the sofa and demystify numbers for today’s children. Chris Ellis explains the show’s appeal: Seeing a child watch Numberjacks is a really unique experience. Children are transfixed by the child-like characters who take centre stage and do the problem solving for the adults. The Numberjacks empower children and inspire them to think about how numbers can solve everyday problems. We’ve been inundated with emails from parents and even teachers telling us how much children love the show and have embraced numbers in their imaginative play and day-to-day life. Getting to Know The NumberjacksThe Numberjacks are animated superhero numbers who live in a sofa and venture out into the real world to help real-life child ‘agents’ solve number problems for confused adults. The ever resourceful Numberjacks have to stop the meddling Meanies – the Puzzler, the Problem Blob, Spooky Spoon, the Shape Japer and the Numbertaker – who are determined to cause mayhem. There are ten Numberjacks - one for each number from Zero to Nine - each number is very like a child of that age, making them instantly appealing to their audience. Mission Control: The SofaThe sofa is home for the Numberjacks. They travel around inside the Sofa on futuristic slides and lifts and, whenever there is a mission to complete, they are launched into the real world. Interactive LearningNumberjacks is a highly interactive show which encourages viewers to help children solve number problems. Each programme ends with a fun number challenge which the viewer has to solve by using the skills they have learnt.
