LUNAR JIM™ IS LAUNCHING A MINI-MISSION FOR PRESCHOOLERSLondon, England - 24th April 2007: Get out the crayons - Lunar Jim™ is launching a mini-mission for preschoolers to invent a new planet! Set on the moon, Lunar Jim™ introduces young people to space and encourages scientific inquiry skills, creativity and learning through discovery, fun and adventure. Planet Pluto has been demoted from its former planetary status so it’s the perfect opportunity for parents and creative young minds to share their ideas about inventing a brand new planet. Intrepid astronaut Lunar Jim and his space buddies want to hear from preschoolers and are asking them to submit their ideas in a nationwide call for entries. For many preschoolers Lunar Jim™ is their first introduction to the moon and space, says Alan Gregg, Vice President, Alliance Atlantis. With this nationwide initiative, Lunar Jim™ has taken the show’s themes of discovery, learning and exploration to a new level by asking preschoolers to participate, use their imaginations and share their ideas. We can’t wait to see what they come up with! Special Edition Lunar Jim™ Prize Packs will be awarded to 10 regional winners*. One national winner will then be selected from the list of 10 finalists, to win a year’s childcare at a Leapfrog Day Nurseries location. We are delighted to be helping Lunar Jim™ challenge preschoolers’ to think about space and develop their inquiry skills, says Nigel Moon, Marketing Director, Leapfrog Day Nurseries. Learning through creativity and fun are essential components of Leapfrog Day Nurseries' approach to childcare making the national prize a perfect reward for this initiative.
How to enter: Beginning Tuesday 24th April, aspiring astronomers can enter the competition through the Lunar Jim™ or Leapfrog Day Nurseries websites, at www.lunarjim.com and www.leapfrogdaynurseries.co.uk. Parents/guardians of entrants can download the entry form and terms and conditions in order for preschoolers to draw/colour a picture in the space provided.Please note that the "Design-a-Planet competition is an additional competition, and that prizes being offered on this page will be awarded to two of our registered members at the end of May 2007.
