The sun has been shining! I always feel so much more chirpy in summer (does that mean I have SAD?) and its definitely a time of fun. I also find looking after the kids so much easier in summer, they cat run in and out, play in the paddling pool, run about and generally be free.

We took the opportunity to go for a picnic in the woods which was great fun, the kids loved it and it made for a wonderful day out. We all made the picnic together (which proved to be rather messy!) and then spent ages choosing a spot in the woods. Then the kids were challenged to a bug hunt and given jars to collect as many different types of bugs as possible. Why do boys always think its funny to put bugs on mummy?

This was the first time we really had to think about sun protection this year and I realised I didn't have any. There was so much choice and such a difference in price that I ended up just grabbing a tub and leaving but surely there is an easier way to choose? Why are some so much more than others? I think some investigation is required before the summer holidays.
