Newborn photography
|
Photographing your newborn baby is essential, as they grow and change so fast. Here are some things to consider.
- Keep a camera (even a disposable) in your hospital bag, as you prepare to give birth
- Try not to use flash too close to the babies eyes - use soft natural light if possible.
- Keep snapping - quality with appear eventually
- A naked baby is cute - or in just a nappy - or dressed up. Why not try all of the above!
- Try having his/her hand near the face - cute
- Why not get a photograph of baby gripping a finger - it demonstrates the scale of things
- Some hospitals have a service where they will take your babies photograph in the hospital. Best to check in advance - and not rely on this.
- If you get a really good one, please send it in to our cute baby contest.

I take baby photos as a hobby for friends and of my own (I have 4 children). I have found that close-up photos of babies face, hands and feet are the best shots to take, preferably with a digital camera as the photos can then be edited using software where you can change the image into soft focus or for a really lovely shot, sepia (which then avoids red-eye)!
