Pregnancy and Seat Belts
|
Wearing a seatbelt is very important, especially now!
Don't listen to tales about being exempt you are not, and you must wear your seatbelt.
By wearing your seat belt you will in fact reduce injury to your unborn baby by 70%. Seat
belts save lives, and you have two lives to look after now. It is not always comfortable
but it will protect you and other passengers in your vehicle.
If you are not clear on how to wear your seatbelt below is a guide to help you.
- Wear the diagonal strap between your breasts, moving the strap around the side
of your bump.
- Make sure the lap strap sits comfortably under your bump. If you can feel the
strap on your belly button then it is too high. It should go from hip to hip,
and as low as possible.
|
Remember as your bump gets bigger you will have to move your seat, maintain the same
approach to your seat belt, but also check mirrors and the height of the wheel. You may
also find that as your seat moves your feet won't reach the peddles so well, so beware
as reaction times can be affected.
