The Dangerous Book for Boys

Conn Iggulden and Hal Iggulden published 5th June 2006 - £18.99 Hardback

The Dangerous Book for Boys is written with the verve and passion that readers of Conn Iggulden's number one bestselling novels have come to expect. This book, his first non- fiction work, has been written with his brother as a celebration of the antics they enjoyed as boys and as a compendium of information so vital to men of all ages. Lavishly designed and fully illustrated this is a must have book for boys from 8 to 80.

Some chapters for recommended reading, whatever the age..

  • Building a Treehouse - It’s hard work but it’s still going to be cheaper than shelling out for the latest playstation gizmo and accompanying games. Skull and crossbones flag optional.
  • Extraordinary Stories - Scott of the Antartic, Nelson, Joe Simpson, Douglas Bader- tales of Derring Do and honour with lashings of frostbite. Inspirational tales, every one of them.
  • Making a go-cart - May help you to get on school on time but don’t try asking the head for his parking spot.
  • Table Football - which can be played anywhere (move over Sven, we’ll show you how to do it)
  • Laws of Rugby - you’ll probably get shouted down but at least you’ll know you’re right.
  • Secret Inks, codes and ciphers - for those VERY important exchanges when you don’t want your little sister to follow you and your mate to your secret den.
  • Making a periscope - perfect for checking the coast is clear before avoiding the parents and having to tidy your room.

Other chapters include: The Seven Ancient Wonders of the World, Conkers, Catapults, Laws of Football, Dinosaurs, Fishing, Juggling, Timers and Tripwires, Kings and Queens, Famous Battles, Spies, Making Crystals, Insects and Spiders, Astronomy, Girls, The Golden Age of Piracy, Secret Inks, Patron Saints of Britain, Skimming Stones, Dog Tricks, Coin Tricks, Marbles, Artillery, The Solar System, British Trees, Chess and Questions About the World.

      About the Iggulden Brothers

From a childhood that consisted of doing magic tricks, building treehouses and making things fizz and whee on bunsen burners it is not suprising that the Iggulden brothers have chosen exciting career paths.

Conn is best known for his series EMPEROR, all of which have sat in the 1st and 2nd positions on the Sunday Times bestseller lists. Previous to his literary success he was a teacher for seven years. He lives in Hertfordshire with his wife and children.

Co-author Hal has developed the imagination that allowed him to hunt like an Indian in his garden, and scale Mount Everest in the living room to become a well respected theatre director.
