| To Chelsea. Have a word with the headteacher of the school and explain what is happening to them they are normally very understanding. Your child should have been assigned a 1-2-1 teacher or teaching assistant when he first started at the school. I used to work with children with behavoural difficulties when I was studying at college and as far as I know the schools cannot refuse to have your son in on a full time basis, unless there is absolutely no one who can give him the attention and care he needs to perform to his utmost within the school environment. If this is the case try and talk to the class teacher to see if there is something else you can do to help your son. They may suggest that you become a school volunteer though. Hope this helps in some way. Kathryn | kathynewbie09![]() Fri 15th Jan 2010 3.59pm |
| I'm desperate for some (any) advice! ... It is not really a 'Special needs' topic, but I couldn't find another appropriate area in which to explain, so here goes ... My daughter Jasmin has just turned 9 - I have had terrible problems some mornings, getting her to go to school! Most of the time she is wuite happy and goes in no problem, but some days, she throws the biggest tantrums and will not let go of me to go into class. There never seems to be any kind of major reason and these days are completely random! I am at the end of my tether with it. It's heartbreaking when someone has to come and literally prise her away from me. She can also be quite aggressive towards me too, punching and kicking me in an effort to getr her own way! PLEASE .. Someone out there must have some advice on how to cope with this? ![]() | endoftether![]() Thu 14th Jan 2010 11.06am |
| I have found an interactive software which helps to improve speech delayed problems and help build vocabulary on toddlers and young children with special needs. SeeMe SPEECH COACH has been very effective in the learning process of the children. | zararina![]() Sat 9th Jan 2010 9.31am |

| Hello Chelsea, First of all you need to make a doctor's appoitment for them to refer your little one to see a Child psychologist to get to the root of his behaviour, if you already done it and not got anywhere GO back you deserve the help and its there to be provided! Second of all you need to go to your local Council for Schooling, as they will offer advise and information, and im very sure they wouldnt like to hear a child is going part time as it's isolating him from learning (so you need to go higher then them) Thirdly If you are happy him attending Mainstream if havent done already ask for the school SENCO (special educational needs cordinator) and talk to them about your concerns, they will work with the Psychologist (if needed) You may hear the word STATEMENT (special educational needs) It will be needed if your son has learning difficulties and the statement will be needed for him to get ONE TO ONE with teacher in the future. | tlc0078![]() Tue 22nd Sep 2009 5.49pm |
