Labour and childbirth - Birth plans
Breach birth
Message | From |
| hi there my baby was breach through-out my pregnancy and the hospital offered to turn her, i didn`t go through with it in the end because after researching it i found out it causes the baby distress and can bring on labour, so as i was determined to have a natural birth the consultant said they would check me when i went into labour see how i was progressing and poss turn her then. when i went into labour i had a fantastic midwife who understood that i didn`t want her turned unless v. necessary so advised me to have pethidine to relax me and my muscles, move around alot, bounce on a birthing ball and be on all-fours to wriggle her around while they montiored to make sure she wasn`t distressed. after 4 hours of doing this she turned and i had her within the hour after that. so there is a chance of the baby turning right up to and including labour. speak to a friendly midwife about it and most of all relax!!!, because if all your muscles are tight thy baby has no room to turn | hkvn![]() Mon 7th Apr 2008 2.04pm |
| My brother was born breach back in the 70's and poor mum did it all with gas and air, forceps, and pethidine. These days you're more likely to get a caesarian. 2nd baby is due in June - I'm sure everything will be fine, but if it is breach, I would like to have the baby without a c-section if possible. Does anyone have any recent experience of having a breach birth without a c-section? | jacksmum![]() Tue 19th Feb 2008 11.35am |
